The Jaipur Pattern Leather Sketchbook is 10 inches across and 7 tall, a landscape format for skylines, shorelines, figure studies, and any idea that runs wider than it runs deep. The hands that make it have been making journals with us for over a decade, in workshops in India where every cover is cut and stitched one at a time.

The cover pattern is drawn from Jaipur's block-printing tradition, the repeating motifs the city is famous for, and applied to the leather with durable UV printing, so the pattern stays crisp through years of studio handling and travel. The leather beneath is finished with natural vegetable dyes, which means its undertone shifts a little from season to season; no two batches sit in quite the same light. Inside are 100 unlined pages of thick 120 gsm tree-free cotton paper, handmade from cotton pulp. It takes ink without bleed-through, holds graphite and light washes, and gives every line a little texture to grip.

When the pages fill, the cover keeps working: the sketchbook takes 10" x 7" notebook inserts, so the pattern that traveled with you stays while the pages change.
